Bastion – Arc Raiders ARC Enemy Guide & How to Kill
Bastion Overview
The Bastion is one of Arc Raiders’ heavy ARC machines — a “fortress on legs” with roughly 2,050 health, covered in thick plating, that patrols resource-rich open areas. Its only weapon is a gatling gun, and unlike its cousin the Bombardier it brings no flying escorts — it relies purely on line of sight. That makes it a straightforward cover-and-flank fight once you know where to shoot.
Attack Pattern
The Bastion telegraphs hard: it emits a loud screech, then unloads its gatling gun for about three seconds at the last position it saw you. The counter is built into the tell — when you hear the screech, break line of sight or reposition, and the burst chews empty ground where you used to be.
- Gatling burst. ~3 seconds of sustained fire at your last-seen location. Will shred Medium and Heavy shields if it connects.
- Line-of-sight reliant. No spotters, no summons. Stay behind cover, foliage, or inside a building and it loses you.
Weak Points
- Yellow kneecaps (leg joints). Shooting these temporarily stuns it and hampers its movement, opening clear shots at its back.
- Rear yellow cylinder. Destroying the canister on its rear stuns the Bastion and exposes the true weak spot underneath.
- Rear barrel component. Once the rear canister is gone, the barrel-like part behind it takes major damage — this is your kill window.
How to Kill It
- Deadline one-shot. A single Deadline deployed next to its canister will instantly destroy a Bastion. If you have one, this is the fastest answer in the game.
- Grenades. Blaze Grenades are particularly effective; Snap Blast Grenades add solid secondary damage.
- Legs-first gunplay. No Deadline? Crack the kneecaps to stun and slow it, swing around to the unplated back, then dump damage into the rear canister and barrel.
- Stay in cover. Keep a wall, building, or foliage between you and its line of sight; peek to fire, break LOS when it screeches.
Where the Bastion Spawns
The Bastion appears on most released maps, typically in wide open areas:
- Dam Battlegrounds
- Buried City
- The Spaceport
- The Blue Gate
- Stella Montis
Drops
Destroying a Bastion awards 500 XP (plus ~250 XP each for scavenging the core, shell, and legs). Its loot table includes:
- Bastion Cell — a unique upgrade material used at the Gear Bench (the reason most raiders hunt Bastions)
- ARC Powercell, Advanced ARC Powercell
- ARC Alloy, ARC Circuitry, ARC Performance Steel
- ARC Motion Core, ARC Flex Rubber
- Mechanical Components, Medium Gun Parts
- Medium Ammo
Bastion vs Bombardier
They share a silhouette and a weak-point layout, so it’s easy to confuse them. The Bastion is the black-grey, machine-gun version that fights alone. The Bombardier is white/light-blue, fires a long-range cannon, and brings two flying Spotters that call in accurate strikes — a harder fight. Check the colour and listen for the cannon vs the gatling screech to know which one you’re dealing with.
