Comet: How to Kill It in Arc Raiders

The Comet is a heavily armored rolling ARC that charges at high speed and self-destructs in a wide seismic explosion. It is usually found near larger ARC.

Where It Spawns

Usually near larger ARC. Since update 1.26.0 it no longer appears in standard Dam Battlegrounds raids and is rarer in Buried City, and since 1.22.0 there are fewer during Hurricane.

How to Kill It

• 2-3 Seeker Grenades can strip armour and destroy it without damaging the igniter
• Shoot the exposed middle when the shell splits open before it explodes
• Unkilled explosion takes a full light shield to ~1/4 charge and similar health
• Self-detonated Comets leave only a searchable ‘ring’ (generic ARC parts); killing it first leaves a ‘core’ piece that seems to always contain the Igniter
• Heavy Ammo or grenades recommended; climb to avoid; dodge to the side before it explodes

Loot and Drops

Common loot: ARC Alloy (Uncommon), Crude Explosives (Uncommon), Advanced ARC Powercell (Rare), ARC Coolant (Rare), ARC Thermo Lining (Rare), Explosive Compound (Rare).

Comet Igniter (Rare): used for Deadline crafting: 1 Comet Igniter + 3 Explosive Compound + 2 ARC Circuitry (Explosives Station 3, blueprint); Deadline Blueprint research: 3000 RP + 5 Comet Igniter + 1 Fossilized Lightning (Research Station 3); Explosive Mine Blueprint research: 2000 RP + 3 Comet Igniter + 2 Sensors (Research Station 2). Can be thrown (since 1.26.0, not in patch notes): shoots to ground after a short delay and explodes; 60 damage, 5m radius. It only drops if you destroy the Comet before it explodes.
