Last Resort Event Guide

Last Resort Event Guide (April 28 – May 25, 2026)

The Last Resort is the limited-time event that launched alongside Patch 1.26.0 and the Riven Tides map. Players earn Merits by collecting buried Ship Models on the Riven Tides shoreline and by playing across all maps. Merits unlock event rewards including the Junior Outfit, the Hydrologist backpack, and Raider Tokens.

⚠️ Event Ends May 25, 2026
The Last Resort event has a hard end date. Once May 25 passes, the Junior Outfit and Hydrologist backpack are gone for the season. If you want them, plan your raids now.

How to Earn Merits

There are two paths to event Merits, both running in parallel:

1. Collect Ship Models (Beachcombing)

Five collectible Ship Models are buried under the sand on the Riven Tides shoreline. Each one extracted earns Merits. To find them:

  • Equip the Dockmaster’s Detector — mandatory. Buried Ship Models are invisible without it.
  • Patrol the open beachfront and coastal dunes. Stop and listen for the Detector’s audio cue.
  • When you get a hit, dig — the Ship Model goes into your inventory.
  • Extract with the Ship Model in your bag (or a Safe Pocket) to bank the Merits.

See our Riven Tides Map Guide for the new Beachcombing mechanic, including three ways to obtain a Dockmaster’s Detector.

2. Earn Cross-Map XP

The event also pays Merits for general XP earned on any map. This means you don’t have to commit every raid to Riven Tides — running your normal rotation on Buried City, Stella Montis, Dam Battlegrounds, etc. still progresses the event passively.

The Five Ship Models

Ship Model Notes
Wind Sprite Beachcombing dig sites on the open shoreline
Twilight Compass Beachcombing dig sites; less common
Velocity Beachcombing; mid-rarity
Sirena Dorata Beachcombing; rarer find
Leviathan’s Crown Rarest of the five — high-XP extraction
✨ Beach Safety
The shoreline is exposed terrain — minimal cover, long sightlines, and the ARC Turbine patrols this area. Scan the horizon before committing to a dig and don’t camp open beaches when other players are nearby.

Rewards

Merits unlock the following at progressive thresholds:

  • Junior Outfit – limited-time cosmetic outfit. Gone after May 25.
  • Hydrologist backpack – limited-time backpack cosmetic. Themed to the Riven Tides coastal aesthetic.
  • Raider Tokens – standard event currency, used in the existing token shop. These persist after the event ends.

Strategy by Player Type

Solo Players

  • Beachcombing favors solos — quiet beaches with minimal cover means you can extract clean if you dig fast and watch the horizon.
  • Run a Dockmaster’s Detector + a solo survival build with mobility-focused skills.
  • Don’t engage the ARC Turbine solo if it spawns near your dig zone — reposition or extract.
  • Time your raids around low-tide windows so you can move quickly across exposed sand.

Squads

  • Have one squad member equip the Dockmaster’s Detector and scan; the others provide overwatch from elevation.
  • Beach overwatch positions: rooftops at Panorama Azzurro, the harbor cranes near Stacking Yard, and any elevated highway sections.
  • If the ARC Turbine spawns, decide fast — engage with the full squad (see the ARC Turbine Boss Guide) or rotate away to a different beach.

Casual / Cross-Map Players

  • If you’re not running Riven Tides, you still earn event Merits through normal XP gain. Play your usual rotation; progress is automatic.
  • Cross-map XP runs slower than direct Beachcombing, but it’s reliable for players who don’t want to commit to the Riven Tides grind.

Time Management

The event runs ~4 weeks. To unlock everything:

  • Casual pace: 2-3 Beachcombing-focused raids per week + your normal play. You’ll hit the Junior Outfit and Hydrologist backpack thresholds with time to spare.
  • Hardcore pace: 1-2 dedicated Riven Tides Beachcombing sessions per day for the first 2 weeks. Focuses on rare ship models (Leviathan’s Crown, Sirena Dorata) for high-XP extracts.
  • Event ends: 09:00 UTC on May 25, 2026 (timing follows Embark’s standard event end-of-day pattern). Don’t leave it until the last weekend — servers tend to be busiest right before deadlines.

Avian Alarm Connection

Last Resort runs in parallel with the new Avian Alarm Player Project. They share the Dockmaster’s Detector requirement — if you complete Stage 1 of Avian Alarm, you get a Detector as a reward, which immediately unlocks Beachcombing for the Last Resort event.

Optimal flow for new players:

  1. Reach level 20 to unlock the Avian Alarm project.
  2. Run Stage 1 of Avian Alarm to earn the Dockmaster’s Detector.
  3. Switch to Riven Tides Beachcombing runs for Last Resort Merits.
  4. Continue Avian Alarm later stages once you’ve banked event progress.
