Best Hullcracker Build – Arc Raiders ARC Destroyer Loadout

Best Hullcracker Build (Post Patch 1.26.0)

The Hullcracker is the consensus community pick for the new ARC Turbine boss fight added in Patch 1.26.0. Its high per-shot damage fits the Turbine’s 4–5 shot landing window cleanly, and the new durability scaling by rarity rewards investing in epic / legendary Hullcrackers for sustained boss farming. This guide covers the build for that fight plus general boss-farming and PvE loadouts.

Why the Build Has Changed

Pre-1.26.0, the Hullcracker was a niche pick — great for armored ARC, awkward outside it. Two patch changes made it more central to the meta:

  • The ARC Turbine rewards burst damage in a tight window — exactly what the Hullcracker is built for.
  • Rarity-based durability scaling means legendary takes -10% durability per shot vs. common’s +75%. A legendary Hullcracker is now a noticeably more sustainable choice than the same weapon at common rarity.

Slot Pick Why
Optic 2-4x scope The ARC Turbine landing window punishes wide-FOV optics — you need a clear line on the canisters
Barrel Heavy Barrel Stacks with armor-pen baseline; faster melts on Sentinel / Queen / Turbine
Grip Vertical Grip Stability for sustained burst sequences
Magazine Extended Mag Avoids mid-window reload during the Turbine fight

If you have a legendary Hullcracker, run that. The new durability scaling means it survives substantially longer per raid — meaningful when a single Turbine encounter can take significant ammo + durability cost.

Loadouts by Use Case

ARC Turbine Boss Fight (primary use case)

  • Primary: Hullcracker (epic+) with Heavy Barrel + 2-4x optic + Vertical Grip + Extended Mag
  • Secondary: Breaker for ground-phase ARC adds and lightning-counter cover
  • Skills: precision shooting, armor pen, mobility — see Best PvE Build
  • Notes: repair before pushing; the fight is sustained and a broken weapon mid-fight is fatal

Boss Farming (Sentinel / Queen / Matriarch)

Hard-Zone PvE

  • Primary: Hullcracker with Reflex / Holographic + Heavy Barrel + Vertical Grip + Extended Mag
  • Secondary: Any close-range weapon for compound transitions and Leaper sweeps
  • Avoid pure CQB-only secondaries if you’re rotating outdoors much — pair with a versatile midrange secondary if possible

Squad DPS Role

  • Primary: Hullcracker (epic+) with Heavy Barrel + 2-4x optic + Extended Mag
  • Secondary: Whatever covers the squad gap — usually short-to-mid range
  • Role: dedicated boss-DPS while teammates handle adds, perimeter, and overwatch
  • Pair with Equalizer teammate for double ARC-penetration loadout

Skills & Perks

Prioritize precision and armor-pen perks over fire-rate or volume bonuses:

  • Damage-up perks scale strongly with the Hullcracker’s high per-shot damage
  • Armor-pen perks stack with its baseline for boss runs
  • Stability and recoil-recovery perks help maintain the burst window
  • Skip pure mobility / movement speed perks — the Hullcracker rewards positioning over running

See the Skills Tier List for the current ranking.

Counters & When Not to Run It

  • PvP-heavy maps — the Hullcracker isn’t built for sustained PvP. The buffed Bettina or Anvil are stronger general-purpose picks.
  • Stealth runs — Hullcracker is loud. Run a suppressed Phantom if stealth matters.
  • Long-range overwatch — the Osprey wins at extreme range.
  • Cave / shotgun-range fights — awkward fit. Carry a CQB secondary.

Comparisons

  • Hullcracker vs Anvil: Hullcracker wins on per-shot armor damage and the Turbine fight; Anvil wins on volume, versatility, and PvP transitions.
  • Hullcracker vs buffed Bettina: close call. Bettina got a major buff in Patch 1.26.0 and now has comparable armor damage with better dispersion. Bettina wins on PvP versatility; Hullcracker still wins on pure burst-window fights like the Turbine.
  • Hullcracker vs Equalizer: complementary — squads run them together for double ARC-pen.
